Project Overview
KidWiz is an AI-based learning SaaS app for children, for both desktop and mobile. The app allows the child or his parent to select a subject, then the AI will teach it to the child through chatting. The parent will then be able to check the child’s performance to know their strengths and weaknesses. This is among many other features that the app provides.
Role: Freelance web designer
Main tool: Figma
Audience: Parents and their children
Duration: 3 months (part-time)
Design Process
- I received the wireframes of some of the desktop pages as well as a brief containing the design specifics
- On Figma, I designed the pages based on the wireframes, and designed the rest of the pages from scratch based on the specifics
- I consistently ran the design by the product manager to make any necessary changes
- Once the desktop design was finished and approved, I designed the mobile version based on it
- Once the mobile design was approved, I was ready to make any necessary changes to the design and clarify any unclear points to the developer
Throughout the entire design process, good communication with the project manager and the developer was key.
Final Design
Below are sample pages of the final design.
Desktop version
Mobile version
In designing the mobile version, I didn't merely reduce the size of the screen and its elements; instead, I radically redesigned many sections to better suit the mobile experience.
Takeaways
This project has taught me a great deal about designing SaaS products. I've also picked up important skills in team communication and meeting tight deadlines.
